In the late 19th century, the land around Long Meadow Ranch was filled with vineyards, orchards, olive groves, and meadows with grazing goats. Subsequent Prohibition destroyed all agriculture at Long Meadow Ranch and the property slowly grew into a forest.
It didn't experience a revival until 1989 when Ted and Laddie Hall purchased it and replanted vineyards where they had originally been.
The farm is located at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains where there is still a large meadow outside the mountains, hence the name Long Meadow Ranch.
